Book Summary

Subrata met Mitali at their college. They soon took fancy to one another and their relation gradually deepened into love. But eventually, contrary to expectation, it did not culminate into marriage.

She had to marry somebody else under pressure from her unfriendly father. As a consequence, Subrata felt stabbed in the heart and irrevocably resolved never to marry anyone else even under the continuous pressure from his parents, friends and others.

At long last, towards the fag end of life beset with many difficulties and dilemmas, they could meet not in marriage but in a bond of life-long friendship much stronger than marriage. Friends they were, friends they continue to remain, all their lives.
