After independence India was facing many problems related to development. There were problems related to health, education, sanitation, safe drinking water, environment, agriculture development, transportation, roads and infrastructure. Government tried to address these problems at policy formulation level as well as in implementation. But India still faces problems and challenges in development sector. This book is an outcome of collected articles and book reviews of the author on major theme of development policy and governance published over a period of three decades. Topics of rural development, intervention of non-government organizations, policy issues related to development, analysing methods and techniques of implementing and evaluating development programmes and projects, sustainable tourism, strengthening people's institutions and local self-governance, health and education have been covered in the book.
