Book Summary
|
The book entitled “Statistics” for BA (Programme) III year, Discipline Specific Elective (DSE-2) is based on CBCS syllabus of Delhi University. It can also be used as a text book for B.El.Ed. III year course of D.U. This book has four chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 are devoted to Classical and Axiomatic approach to Probability Theory, Discrete and Continuous Random Variables, Mathematical Expectations, Moment Generating Function, various discrete distributions like Binomial, Poisson, Geometric and Continuous Distributions namely Exponential and Normal Distribution. Chapter 3 deals with Bivariate or Joint Probability Distribution, Correlation, Regression for two variables. It also includes Central Limit Theorem and Laws of Large Numbers. The fourth chapter discusses the concept of Sampling and the various Tests of Significance based on t, F, chi-square distribution. All the chapters have been made simple through 85 examples, 47 theorems and 57 exercises. I am sure students will be happy to use this book as a text book.
